I’m a japanese TV director, and I’m making weekly literature program:”Let’s read classics”. I’m futuring the TMIB in japanese TV(NHK-sattelite channel). I’ve some question on this novel.
Q1 what’s type of thier boat? I want show the illustration of the boat to the japanese viewer.
Q2 I’m intererted in the friend-ship among the three men in their real life. I’m looking for the heart worming good episode of their frined-ship. For example, at the moment of death of JKJ, what did others(George and Carl) say to him? I want some suggetion of these matters from someone. I want know some proper good books on his biographical aspect. I have already “My life and times”. I hope someone to give me suggestion.

The boat is called a Thames Skiff or Camping Skiff, which is a skiff with places for one , two or more rowers and a steersman in the stern. The camping skiff has a canvas cover which can be fitted at night to form a floating “tent”. if you send me your E-mail address to scwiles@yahoo.co.uk I will send you a picture taken from the last trad boat rally on the thames of one, or you can look at http://www.tradboatrally.com and view the pics of unpowered boats, look at “thomasina” which is a good example.
To research Jerome, and with more exact details on his death, buy a copy of Joseph Connoly’s critical biography, http://www.abebooks have several.
I think he was in a coma at the end , so had George or Carl been present they would have had little to say of any great significance.
